And this too was a good read, but I can’t get over the title....“ The Mustang GT’s V8 is the most Under-Appreciated Engine Right Now” . Lol wut?? That can’t be right. No way in hell the plebian 2.3L Boost of Economy motor I have in my Mustang is more appreciated than the newest Coyote.
That Proper 5.0L is the greatest V8 I’ve ever had the pleasure of driving (References include the previous two Coyotes, a 400hp supercharged Fox 5.0, and a ‘16 Camaro SS).
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
But this shot is nice AF and I can always count on R&T for great wallpapers.

Is an engine under appreciated if another engine (we know who it is) is over appreciated and hyped in comparison?
It’s like saying chevy trucks sell badly just because ford sells an absurd amount of trucks

not enough blood in the pic.

It’s just an effort to keep displacement on people’s radars.
If you haven’t noticed, every single car seems to have a 1.5-2.0t now. It’s like America today is Europe in the 90s, but with less neon and ecstasy.

They didn’t say that the V8 was the least appreciated engine, they said it was the most under appreciated relative to how it should be.

it’s under appreciated in that “three things I like about the 5.0 in the Mustang” isn’t a catchy enough title.
He probably couldn’t go with “You’ve been thinking about the Mustang V8 all wrong” and he couldn’t think of enough good things to go with “6 Things you didn’t know about the Mustang V8, #3 will SHOCK you”

‘cept we didn’t have turbo’s on our 1.6-2.0 engines back then. All NA power baby!

True...only on the fancy trims, which were given awesome names that were a combination of an everyday adjective and the word “-line” :D
Ford Ka Sadline

As a man who loves hyperbole, simile, and metaphor, I stopped reading R&T because I thought the writing was terrible.

It’s just a rare pre-crowd photo, the blood came after.

I stopped reading R&T because I got tired of car porn. Over the past 5-6 issues I’d ballpark that 80-85% of the cars they reviewed were over $100,000. after a while, reading about nothing but unobtanium just gets boring. “ *yawn* gee, another $200k Aston I’ll probably never even see in person.”

to be fair GM’s pickup sales are spread across two brands (Chevy and GMC.) GM keeps the two pretty rigidly segmented; the “nicest” Silverado you can get is the LTZ trim, which is roughly equivalent to a loaded F-150 Lariat. Chevy has no equivalent to the F-150 KR, Platinum, or Limited, so you have to go over to GMC and their Denali trims for the Sierra to reach that level.

Perhaps I used the wrong nomenclature, I don’t wanna say something ridiculous but I doubt GM sells as many trucks as FoMoCo. But it doesn’t mean GM sells few trucks.

no I understood your point, I was just clarifying one reason why people might think that.
FWIW Ford moves about 80k F-Series trucks a month, Chevy + GMC about 65k (45-50k Chevy, 15-20k GMC.)

Well, yeah.
I think the coyote is not spoken about like the LS engines because its a bit more complex (4V DOHC) and thus modding it is probably a bit more expensive. But I think DOHC kits are available for the LS too... so it’s beyond me why it’s not spoken of with such reyoce

I mean, it makes 465hp now. For an NA motor in a *relatively* cheap car, that’s pretty damn bonkers. That’s more power than any big block and/or supercharged car made before the S197 GT500.

the LS has 60+ years of legacy; the small block Chevy it descends from is probably the single most revered American engine. The Coyote is a relatively new engine with no real legacy (it’s technically part of the Modular engine family, but nobody calls it that.)
plus you can fit an LS in damn near anything for 400 cheap horsepower.
the Coyote is huge, with its enormous 4V heads:

Even the block on the 4v dohc engine is a lot larger....
i had forgotten how compact the LS is, it makes that Mazda engine look much larger!
